Noob Intro
Noob Intro
Been lurking for a week or so now. Impressed by the level of activity and information on these boards. Coming over from Masters running, which I've been doing for about 7 yrs. Been best at 400m and made it to Masters Nationals at 42yo (ran 53.66) and last yr at 46yo ran 54.83. Too many injuries past year though. Daughter rows w/ high school team, thought I'd try it out, good fun, like being able to compare my efforts w/ others, enjoy the technical aspects. Form could probably use some improvement but might be 1/2 way decent for a newbie. So far in the 1st week, at 47yo and 189cm (6'2 1/2") and 84kg (185) managed 500m at 1:39.5, 2k at 7:10, 5k at 19:19. Maybe will do some indoor races and thinking about local Masters Rowing Club. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and that I think y'all got a cool scene here.

Excellent stats for a beginner. With your size, you have the potential to do very well indeed. If you do have the opportunity to learn to row on the water, do it as early as you can. The indoor machine is a great tool for getting into good condition and staying there, but it is not the way to learn to row if you intend to do any boat rowing. Bad habits creep in that are hard to get rid of later.

Welcome to the family. I just ordered a Model E and mine should be here tomorrow. It's been over 12 years and I'm just now getting back into rowing.
